Will hair extensions damage my natural hair?
No, when properly applied, maintained, and removed, human hair extensions will not damage your natural hair. Damage typically occurs from improper at-home installation of semi-permanent methods, neglecting routine maintenance, or pulling them out forcefully.
How long do human hair extensions last?
The lifespan of the hair depends entirely on how well you care for it and how often you wear it:

Can I use heat tools (straighteners, curlers) on my extensions?
Yes, you can safely use flat irons, curling wands, and blow dryers. However, because extensions do not receive natural oils from your scalp, excessive heat will dry them out over time.
- Always apply a heat protectant spray before styling.
- Keep your styling tools at a low-to-medium temperature setting (300°F–350°F / 150°C–180°C).
- Keep direct heat away from the attachment bonds or tapes to avoid melting the adhesive.
Can I dye or tone the hair extensions?
Yes, but we highly recommend having it done by a professional colorist. Because human hair extensions have already gone through a manufacturing coloring process, they process color much faster and more unpredictably than your own hair.
- Do: Deposit color using semi- or demi-permanent dyes to darken or tone the hair within 2 shades of its original color. Always perform a strand test first.
- Don’t: Bleach or lighten the extensions, as harsh chemical lifting will permanently ruin the hair quality.

How often should I wash my hair extensions?
- Semi-Permanent (Tape-ins/Wefts): Wash your hair 1 to 2 times a week. Washing too frequently strips the hair of its moisture.
- Temporary (Clip-ins): You only need to wash them after every 15 to 20 wears, or whenever there is a noticeable buildup of styling products.
What hair products should I use?
Always opt for moisture-rich, salon-professional formulas.
- Avoid: Products containing sulfates, parabens, or heavy alcohol, which dry out the hair. Skip strengthening or keratin-building lines, as they can make the extensions brittle.
- Placement: Apply conditioner and hair oils only from the mid-lengths down to the ends. Keep these slippery products completely away from the tape tabs or keratin bonds to prevent them from slipping out.
How do I brush my hair extensions without pulling them out?
Use a specialized loop brush or extension brush designed to glide over bonds without snagging.
- Gather your hair into a ponytail with one hand and hold firmly at the roots/bonds to support the weight.
- Gently brush out any tangles starting at the ends and slowly work your way up to the roots.
- Never brush your extensions aggressively while they are completely wet.
Can I sleep or swim with my extensions in?
- Sleeping: Never go to bed with wet extensions, as this causes severe matting and tangling that can ruin the hair. Gently brush your hair and tie it into a loose braid or low ponytail before sleeping to minimize friction. Sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase is highly recommended.
- Swimming: Saltwater and chlorine pull moisture out of extensions and can discolor blonde hair. If you swim, apply a leave-in conditioner, braid your hair, and rinse it with clean water immediately afterward. Clip-ins should always be removed before swimming or showering.
